Overview

Lazy Jack was individually designed by Gerard Dijkstra, the architect who restored the J-Class boats Endeavour, Velsheda and Shamrock V, but also well known for bespoke sloops, Aerorig sloops and schooners.

Dutch built with a bespoke layout of individual design finished to a high standard with quality fittings. Designed to take 2-4 people safely and independently around the globe without the need for additional crew and can easily be sailed single-handed. The bow thruster and twin engines make her very manoeuvrable in close confines. She has a unique gimballed galley, chart table and forward berth, which makes life on board in heavy seas comfortable.

She has secondary back up for all essential systems. Her AeroRig and electric winches make her simple to sail and very efficient.

She is particularly well suited for cold climate voyaging with her thick insulated aluminium hull and watertight bulkheads. However, there is also enough natural ventilation below decks by way of multiple companionways, numerous deck hatches and Dorade vents to permit comfortable cruising in the Tropics and South Pacific.

With only two owners from new she presents in immaculate order with a continuous maintenance program. Her current owners have sailed her for the past 9 years and their plan was to commence a world tour but personal matters have necessitated a change of plan.

Berth may be available, subject to negotiation and marina terms and conditions.

OWNERS COMMENTS
“LJ” has been the perfect yacht for us, having purchased her from the first owner who oversaw her design and build in Holland. His philosophy of wanting a yacht to take him and his wife safely around the world, with backup systems for all essential systems, we have continued this philosophy. We have spent a very happy 10 years living on her and sailing in both UK and Mediterranean. We have maintained and improved her with the aim of embarking on our own world voyage but personal circumstances have curtailed this. She is a yacht, which is at her best for long sea passages and is not idea for day cruising due to her size. I sailed her back from Gibraltar non-stop with one crew in 7.5 days. I often have sailed her singlehanded and she is very seaworthy in a blow. As we need to be local to the UK for the next few years it is with great sadness we have made the decision to put her up for sale.
