Designed by Andrew Wolstenholme, she offers confident handling and excellent seakeeping, making her well suited to coastal cruising and longer open-water passages alike. Handling and Performance Underway, the Duchy 27 feels sure-footed and predictable. Power is supplied by a Nanni T4 diesel engine, delivering 200hp and refined cruising at around 18 knots. As a result, she is comfortable to run and easy to manage, even when conditions are less than ideal. Cockpit and Interior The design centres around a spacious cockpit and an ergonomic helm position, creating a sociable and practical layout. Below, the interior is well appointed and welcoming. A cockpit double-berth conversion extends overnight accommodation to four adults, which works well for short trips or weekends away. Ownership and Condition ‘Rascal’ was delivered new in 2024 and has seen very light use by one experienced owner. She has been carefully looked after and is currently stored ashore, undercover, protected from winter weather. As a result, she presents in excellent condition throughout. She feels solid, well balanced, and very easy to drive, which is exactly what you want if you’re heading along the coast or popping across an open stretch of water. The cockpit works brilliantly, the helm position is spot on, and she’s got just enough accommodation to make weekends away comfortable without feeling cramped. Being a 2024 boat that’s been lightly used and kept undercover really shows. If you’re after a smart, well-built cruiser that you can enjoy straight away, Rascal is a lovely example.
