Overview

Design and Build

The Hunter Marine Legend 33 is a award winning cruising yacht, known for combining generous interior space with straightforward, user-friendly sailing characteristics. Designed with practicality in mind, it appeals to owners looking for a comfortable and accessible yacht. She’s ideally suited to family sailing in coastal waters but equally capable of safe offshore adventures.

Hull and Construction

The Hunter Legend 33 is built with a solid GRP hull and a fin keel configuration offering a good balance between stability, performance and shallow water access.

  • GRP hull and deck construction
  • Fin keel
  • Spade rudder
  • Wheel steering

The hull form provides predictable handling under sail and power, making the boat well suited to a wide range of cruising conditions.

Rig and Sailing Configuration

The yacht is rigged as a fractional sloop with a focus on simplicity and ease of sail handling. The design features the trademark mainsheet arch, which ensures the cockpit is a safe and uncluttered space. Short handed sailing is easy, with all control lines led back to the cockpit, plus electric autopilot and electric windlass with dual controls.

  • Fractional rig
  • Furling headsail
  • Mainsail with straightforward reefing system
  • Lines led aft to cockpit

This configuration makes the ‘Aries’ particularly approachable for those newer to sailing or stepping into ownership.

Engine and Propulsion

Auxiliary power is provided by a reliable inboard diesel engine, delivering efficient and dependable performance for harbour manoeuvring and coastal passages.

  • Inboard diesel engine- Volvo MD2030 diesel
    29hp
  • Shaft drive configuration
  • Simple and accessible engine installation

The setup is designed for ease of maintenance and consistent reliability.

Accommodation and Layout

One of the key strengths of the Hunter Legend 33 is the amount of space available below deck.  The generous accommodation sleeps six in two cabins plus the saloon. The interior feels open and bright, with a layout that works well for both short trips and longer stays.

  • Forward double cabin
  • Aft double cabin
  • Spacious saloon with seating and dining area
  • Galley with cooker, sink, and refrigeration
  • Separate heads compartment with shower

Condition and Ownership

‘Aries’ is a very nice example and has clearly been well cared for under current ownership. She offers excellent value, particularly for those seeking a balance between comfort and manageable size. She is ready to go and currently afloat at Plymouth yacht Haven.

Broker's Comments

Aries is a boat that makes ownership feel straightforward. She's is easy to handle and offers a surprising amount of space for a yacht of this size. What tends to stand out straight away is the interior. It feels open and usable with a layout that works just as well for a weekend away as it does for longer stays on board. There is a sense of comfort here that is not always found in more performance-focused designs. Everything is set up to be manageable. Whether sailing as a couple or short-handed, the boat does not feel demanding, which makes it a very approachable option for a wide range of owners.
