Overview

Oratava is a 1997 Westerly Regatta 330, designed by Ed Dubois and based on the proven Westerly Storm 33 hull. She is a substantial and capable British-built cruising yacht, with the solid construction for which Westerly yachts are renowned.

The current owner has owned Oratava for five years and has progressively upgraded her specifically for solo and shorthanded offshore sailing. She has served him extremely well in demanding conditions, including crossings of the Bay of Biscay and, most recently, a solo voyage from the UK to the Canary Islands followed by her return to the UK via Madeira and the Azores.

Following a recent health scare, the current owner has decided to bring his sailing chapter to an end and sell Oratava. She is therefore a genuinely offshore-proven yacht, rather than a coastal cruiser that has simply been equipped for offshore use.

During the current ownership, extensive improvements have been made to prepare her for offshore sailing, including a new mainsail and headsail, replacement of the standing rigging and forestay, installation of an inner forestay and mast steps, and significant upgrades to her self-steering, electrical, communications and heavy-weather capabilities.
